Stanley Tong’s time-traveling romantic adventure movie THE MYTH, starring Jackie Chan, has been adapted into a 50-episode TV series which began airing on CCTV8 on January 3 (sans subtitles).
Acting as executive producer, Jackie Chan was on hand at a press event with series male lead Hu Ge and female lead Bai Bing to help promote the series.
Hu Ge takes on the role originally played by Chan as a modern day archeologist who travels back to ancient China to become a general.
Like the movie, the series incorporates action, comedy, fantasy, and romantic elements. It also expands on the original story with additional details including greater comedic emphasis on contrasting the modern and ancient world.
