We all know and agree that DRIVE is pretty much the best American martial arts film of all time.  Ever since I first saw DRIVE, I’ve followed Mark Dacascos and although he’s never made a film quite as good since, he’s still always the best thing in any of his movies.  Similarly, Steve Wang has never quite reached the heady heights of his 1997 masterpiece.  Although GUYVER: DARK HERO holds a special place in my heart.

However, today I was browsing through Mark’s official site, and I came across a news story headed “Mark Talks About his NEW 3D Action Film”.  I followed the link, and stumbled upon this little gem:

“It’s going to be hard-core, live action,” says Dacascos, who has the lead role. “It should be interesting. Last time I worked with Steve (Steve Wang on “Drive”) I would come off the set with cuts, scratches, tons of bruises, and I even went to the hospital once. So I’ve been just getting my body prepared for the beating I’m going to take.”

Now, there’s no hint of it on imdb and I couldn’t find much else about it anywhere – but if it means there’s a chance of them joining forces once more, I’m willing to believe this article.  And although many of you dislike the current 3D trend, I for one would love to see Mark Dacascos kicking all shades of ass in three dimensions.

What do you reckon?  Do we want Mark jumping on the 3D bandwagon?

Surely we do?

That article was from June, so if there hasn't been any confirmation or developments by now, I wouldn't get our hopes up… :(

I'm following Mark on twitter (and we all should! He updates like crazy) and he's been talking about this project a fair amount. So I think it's for sure happening, and going to be great stuff.

Mark Decascos is a great actor he first show his first unbelievable stunts in his movie “The Crow 3″ Which is totally impressive. Then he show us again with his impressive moves in drive. And now he is going t impressed us again in his upcoming and new movie. This is really going to be a great movie and in great actions.

I'm pretty sure DRIVE's awesome action and fights (although I didn't know it back then) are because of the choreography of Koichi Sakamoto. But since Sakamoto has now moved up to directing super cool big time Japanese tokusatsu movies (anyone seen MEGA MONSTER BATTLE: ULTRA GALAXY LEGEND – THE MOVIE? Wow!), I don't think he will come back to choreograph this new Dacascos/Wang project. But who knows, a lot of the HK action choreographers often move back and forth freely between directing, stunt coordinating, fight choreographing and even acting, so maybe Sakamoto will too. He is definitely one of the best fight and action choreographers in the world in my book. He's up there with the best of the best; Corey Yuen, Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, Yuen Woo-Ping and some others that I probably haven't discovered yet. Anyways, Dacascos and Wang have their work cut out for them if they want their new project to be as cool as DRIVE and prove unable to get Sakamoto back.
