New pictures from the set of Sylvester Stallone’s THE EXPENDABLES have been posted to the film’s official blog. Images feature cast members including Stallone, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and Eric Roberts.

The blog’s author, “Ethelmae,” who works on the production in what seems to be a public relations position, has been diligent in providing a unique perspective on the film and its stars. Back in June she described working with Jet Li whom she calls a consummate professional with a keen sense of humor and a surprisingly love for shopping. “He is always prepared, always on point and totally immerses himself when on camera,” wrote Ethelmae.

Of Sly, Ethelmae had nothing but praise. “What can you say about this guy? He is a visionary and risk taker who obviously loves what he does. Writing, directing and starring in a film of this scope is no easy task to be sure but he sees everything in his mind’s eye and what a vision it is! The actors love him as a director and he seems very generous as an actor. We already know he can write. And he likes to keep it real by doing most of his own stuntwork…which encourages the other actors to do the same. Pretty freakin amazing.”

Principle shooting has apparently come to an end, although scenes involving Governor Arnold Schwarzennegger still need to be shot. Sly was disappointed about not being able to bring a preview of the film to the San Diego Comic Con but he didn’t have anything ready to show.

THE EXPENDABLES is currently on track for release in April, 2010. Producer Avi Lerner has stated that plans are underway to develop the film into a franchise which means we could see yet more action film veterans thrown together.
