Gore-ridden martial arts actioner HARD REVENGE, MILLY (2008 – trailer) has been reviewed by Japanese film site Nippon Cinema. Described as “an ode to Quentin Tarantino by way of Takashi Miike,” this short, 45-minute feature from frequent short-film director Takanori Tsujimoto was released last year as part of Ace Deuce Entertainment’s Neo Action Double Feature.
The film’s star is former fashion model Miki Mizuno, a student of Shorin Kempo and member of the Kurata Action Club. KAC is run by martial arts movie legend Yasuaki Kurata (FIST OF LEGEND).
In what the author says amounts to a shortened version of KILL BILL, Mizuno is pitted against Mitsuki Koga, an actor with a varied background in multiple martial arts styles.
The author concludes that HARD REVENGE, MILLY is a “surprisingly entertaining revenge flick” despite dated CGI effects and a low budget. The main attraction seems to be the fighting skill of the two leads and their subsequent duel. To read the full review head over to Nippon Cinema.
HARD REVENGE, MILLY was released December 23rd, 2008 on DVD with English and Chinese subtitles by Malaysian distributor Lambaian Filem.
