Coming out in the U.K. in 2008 is director Scott Mann’s THE TOURNAMENT, a monster actioner that sees Kelly Hu (MARTIAL LAW), Ving Rhames (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3), Robert Carlyle (28 WEEKS LATER), Ian Somerhalder, Sebastien Foucan (CASINO ROYALE), and Scott Adkins (THE SHEPHERD) as assassins among 30 of the world’s deadliest in a tournament-style fight to the death.

I’m happy to see up-and-coming martial arts star Scott Adkins in there doing his thing but I’d also like to point out Sebastien Foucan, the black assassin who pulls a bullet out of his gut and tosses it in a coffee pot. He’s the co-creator of parkour who was prominently featured in CASINO ROYALE in the film’s memorable free-running scene early on.

If the rehashed plot doesn’t grab you then the following three-minute test promo of wall-to-wall gunplay and martial arts action from fight choreographers J.J. Perry (UNDISPUTED 2) and Jon Valera (NINJA ASSASSIN) just might do the trick.

Enjoy it before somebody yanks it from Youtube. It looks like something that was leaked although if I were the producers I wouldn’t be sorry that it did.

    And to think…they originally wanted Ving Rhames to reprise his role of George “Iceman” Chambers in Undisputed 2, but had to decline due to his commitment with the defunct Kojak series, so Michael Jai White came in to replace him.

    I’ve got to say, this looks good.

    The cast is mouth-wateringly eclectic, for starters, and the choreography is superb.

    What surprises me most is that this was shot in the UK!
