Easily the most anticipated martial arts movie of 2008 is IP MAN, the biopic of famed Wing Chun Grandmaster Yip Man (aka Ip Man), Bruce Lee’s kung fu teacher. The martial arts drama has been put together by the skilled team behind KILL ZONE (aka SPL) with Wilson Yip directing, Donnie Yen and Simon Yam starring, and Sammo Hung choreographing.

This teaser is a little different from the one posted at Twitch. Where that one shows behind-the-scenes footage, this one briefly shows actual film footage. The production looks very impressive and the action appears to be a stylized showcase of Wing Chun that should please kung fu enthusiasts and Hong Kong movie fans alike.

IP MAN is scheduled for release in Hong Kong in December.

Wow I saw the trailer with no sound at work and still thought it was good. That scene when he hits the guy repeatedly while falling is crazy.

Looks unbelievable! Does the story show the introduction of Bruce Lee to Yip Man and/or any of Bruce’s training?

Do you know if there’s going to be a US release?

not much really.. the movie is called Ip Man so its mostly about him. Bruce plays a minimal if any role in the movie from what ive heard.

This movie looks sick man! Donnie Yen, as much as I hate his arrogance, is a superb martial artist. Sha Po Lang and Flashpoint made me open my eyes to his choreography. Having Sammo directing the action/Wing Chun for this one is gonna rock! If it half resembles Prodigal Son or Warriors Two I’ll be a happy man! Yip Man..legend, I learnt from Yip Chun one of his sons who I believe trained up Donnie for this role. Can’t wait!!!

Trailer looks good but i think Hong kong cinema will not live up to the good old 80′s and 90′s. I think i saw wires involved in some moves which are not always a good idea comapred to the level of movies these day’s from other countries. But its good to see Sammo bck to what he does best

now this is how kung fu movies should be. donnie yens in his prime and what a good way to honor the man behind the fame of kungfu movies going mainstream and wing chun itself.
