A new trailer is out for Daniel Lee’s upcoming wuxia spectacular 14 BLADES, starring Donnie Yen and Vicki Zhao. This swordplay actioner, choreographed by Ku Huan-chiu, looks like a visually upgraded throwback to the days when Yen was starring in ’90s-era wuxia films like DRAGON INN and BUTTERFLY AND SWORD. With genre legends Sammo Hung, Chen Kuan-tai, Wu Ma, and Damian Lau in attendance, Lee looks to be on track to deliver a modern wuxia hit.

Described as a martial arts thriller, 14 BLADES concerns an imperial secret service agent (Yen) working for the Ming Dynasty, who is betrayed and hunted by his former associates.

14 BLADES is scheduled for theatrical release in Asia on February 11, 2010.

Everything coming out from yen these days is masterful – did we ever get updates on the rumor that he's shooting a film with Tony Jaa in the spring? Something called “vanguard…”

I don't mind seeing Don with gorgeous actresses (beside Vicki, there's also Kate Tsui). I thought they did a good job in Painted Skin although the movie was just ok.
