Anyone familiar with Wong Jing knows that one of his specialties, aside from raking in money at the box office, is liberally borrowing ideas from Hollywood films to make his Hong Kong movies. Tapping Sandra Bullock comedy MISS CONGENIALITY (2000) is Wong’s latest, BEAUTY ON DUTY, starring Charlene Choi (THE TWINS EFFECT) and Sandra Ng (MARTIAL ANGELS).
Check out the pics below, including one character poster for kung fu actor Louis Fan appearing in touch with his feminine side. Some may recall that FIVE VENOMS star Lo Meng did something similar in ANNA IN KUNG-FU LAND (2003). It’s something of a Hong Kong movie tradition.
A rookie policewoman (Choi) rescues a witness of a murder case during her first patrol. The witness is willing to testify against the murderer only if the police team protects his daughter. As a result of this, the rookie is forced to participate in the “Miss Asia Beauty Pageant” together with the girl to ensure she is safe by her side.
Also starring is Jim Chim (THE TWINS EFFECT 2), Louis Fan (IP MAN), William Chan, Lu Yi (CONFUCIUS), and Nana Xie.
BEAUTY ON DUTY opens in Hong Kong on April 1, 2010.
