A new trailer is out for director Derek Yee’s follow-up to SHINJUKU INCIDENT. It’s a gunplay-intensive crime actioner called TRIPLE TAP that stars Daniel Wu, Louis Koo, Li Bingbing, and Charlene Choi.

The film’s plot reminds me of a cross between Johnnie To’s RUNNING OUT OF TIME and Dante Lam’s THE SNIPER.

Champion marksman Ken (Koo) stumbles on an armored car robbery. He shoots four of the robbers and rescues a police officer held hostage as one of the robbers escapes. Ken becomes a hero exonerated of wrongdoing after an investigation led by Jerry Chang (Wu), a fellow competitive marksman and police detective. But when Ken is later attacked by the escaped robber, the confrontation reveals details that cast new suspicion on Ken. This leads to a literal showdown between Ken and Jerry as they take their competitive gun-handling skills off the shooting range and onto the street.

TRIPLE TAP is scheduled for release in Asia beginning April 29, 2010.

Something must've happened during pre-production, cause this looks awfully similar to a Benny Chan/EMG (talentless pop star grooming company) crapfeast than a drama-moving Derek Yee piece. How did they do that?
