Coming to Japanese theaters in February is SENGOKU IGA NO RAN, the third film in a period ninja series from director Seniji Chiba. It is preceded by KOUSOKU IGA NO RAN (2007) and TENSHO IGA NO RAN (2005).
According to a plot summary at Nippon Cinema, the third film is set in Japan’s war-torn Sengoku era and has Iga ninja making a final stand against the overwhelming armies of warlord Oda Nobunaga and rival Koga ninja.
The film stars a lot of tokusatsu veterans including Masashi Goda (OHRANGER VS. KAKURANGER), Hassei Takano (MASKED RIDER: THE FIRST), Hassei Takano (KAMEN RIDER THE NEXT), and Kentaro Shimazu (THE MACHINE GIRL).
Also starring is Shuji Kashiwabara (BLOOD AND BONES), Yuka Houshaku, Erina Hayase, and Tsutomu Hiura.
SENGOKU IGA NO RAN opens February 22nd. A Japanese DVD release is already scheduled for April 17th with a running time of only 64 minutes. It will undoubtedly be missing English subtitles as is standard practice for Japanese home video releases but it should eventually be available at CDJapan.co.jp for those still interested.
