At the People’s Choice Awards, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE star Hugh Jackman stated that filming on the sequel will likely begin in 2011 with the movie coming out in 2012.
“Wolverine’s going to be back. He’s going to Japan. We shoot that probably in a year, year-and-a-half, something like that,” said Jackman who was the recipient of the Favorite Action Star award.
WOLVERINE 2, which is being penned by Christopher McQuarrie, focuses on Wolverine’s exploits in Japan where he tempers his animalistic rage by adopting the ways of the samurai. He is expected to be fighting ninja which should be interesting now that we’ve seen what Hollywood can do with them since NINJA ASSASSIN.
Beginning this summer, Jackman will begin shooting RED STEEL, a family sci-fi actioner about futuristic boxing robots (?!).
