I liked Chan Lit-bun's earlier films (and plan to post more reviews) but this was awfully old-fashioned. To be fair, I undoubtedly had unrealistic expectations based on my love of Suet Nei and the cool sounding title. It's nowhere near as good as Chan Lit-ban's mid-60s films. Lui Kei, who gets most of the screen time, is totally unsuited for wuxia films. And the film's cheap sets look even cheaper in color than they would have in black and white. Finally, the copy I saw (which is probably the one you saw) is a Mandarin dub, so I didn't even get the pleasure of hearing Suet Nei's distinctive voice. It's true... I was totally crushed.
