Hong Kong action film star and fight choreographer Philip Ng (NEW POLICE STORY, HOUSE OF FURY) recently wrapped up a new short film in Hong Kong titled SOMEBODY TO LOVE. The film was directed by Seamus Walsh, who shot the film using the new RED camera and co-stars Yennis Cheung and stuntman/action director James Ha (DRAGONS FOREVER, ACES GO PLACES V).
In SOMEBODY TO LOVE, a love triangle exists between young fighter Jeff (Ng), young woman Jenny (Cheung), and a local gangster (Ha). When Jeff constantly gets threatened by the gangster to stay away from Jenny, Jeff does anything it takes to ensure that his relationship with Jenny is solid, even if it means fighting the gangster and his goons in a series of fights.
Director Walsh calls SOMEBODY TO LEAVE a “romantic kung fu comedy”. Shooting took place from November 1st to November 7th in Hong Kong. Henry Chung served as director of photography while British-born Hong Kong stuntman Jude Poyer (A MAN CALLED HERO) served as the film’s action choreographer.
The completed short film SOMEBODY TO LOVE is scheduled for release in early 2009.
Meanwhile, Walsh has unleashed the trailer on Youtube:
