DRIVEN TO KILL (2009)

The Steven Seagal train keeps a chuggin’ along. He’s got a new movie coming to DVD and Blu-ray on May 19th and a new distributor, 20th Century Fox. Up till now, he’s been cranking out one direct-to-video flick after another for Sony Pictures since 2002. I’m guessing it was penance for not delivering a hit when the studio first backed him with their first and only theatrical release, HALF PAST DEAD.

Get ready for bullets, blood, and bodies hitting the ground, because international action superstar Steven Seagal is back… with a vengeance! Enter the lethal world of Driven To Kill – a take-no-prisoners crime saga that pits Seagal against a deadly criminal syndicate! Seagal stars as Ruslan Drachev, a highly-respected former enforcer in the New York-based Russian Mob, who long ago abandoned the gangland lifestyle to pursue a more peaceful career as a crime novelist. But his world is turned upside down when he learns that his daughter is engaged to marry a Russian gangster who also happens to be Ruslan’s cold-hearted nemesis from the bad old days. When a shocking act of brutality forces Ruslan to return to the sinister underbelly of his past, he must mete out his own merciless, murderous brand of justice, until no enemy is left standing!

    dude

this movies is DUBBED. almost everyone here is...INCLUDING Seagal. i imagine it is because he could not pull off a convincing russian

    this movie is absolute garbage
  • Mark reports the news and you guys provide the perspective. I grew tired of Seagal's formulaic films years ago and you've convinced me to avoid this one too. Besides, there's still far too many known classics that I need to see and I don't have the time to waste on second- or third-rate films. Thanks for saving me from adding this one to my long queue!

    wow...that is interesting....

Yeah I can imagine that Seagal does ok in that DTV market. I suppose it makes enough that he continues to make them. I guess the most successful DTV film I've seen and heard the buzz was Undisputed 2 with Scot Adkins.

But it seems every DTV Seagal movie he is some ex CIA, ex OP lol it's just ridiculous come up with something else....

oh yeah. every title. now mind you...there are a good hunk of people that come back and say the film is garbage, but then they rent the new one as soon as it hits the shelves. all of his DTV films are highly profitable, and im assuming that is why he cranks out so many a year

Yeah...Seagal still draws a certain audience or he wouldn't last this long on the DTV market. Jiujitsu so in average does his DTV dvds rent out well? I suppose they do my dad rented a few throught out the years. I think I saw one that was semi decent: 'Belly of the beast.'

His best days are behind him....I enjoy his earlier work like most...perhaps if he's involved with the right creative team he might be usefull in a film as a side character not the main attraction.
