Billboard Magazine and CHUD have reported that Hollywood producer and director Eli Roth (HOSTEL, CABIN FEVER) and Wutang Clan rapper The RZA have developed a martial arts film entitled THE MAN WITH THE IRON FIST.
CHUD got a confirmation from Roth himself that The RZA, a martial arts film fanatic since the glory days of old school kung fu films, has not only written the screenplay already, but he will be making his directorial debut on the project as well. The RZA had been studying how to direct from none other than Quentin Tarentino (KILL BILL), who, according to Roth, has given his blessing on the project.
Although plot details are kept on the down low for now, Roth says that the film “martial arts fans could want, combined with RZA’s superb musical talent. This project has been his dream for years, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. And fans should know that yes, there will be blood… This ain’t no PG-13.”
The RZA has done the music score for Jim Jarmusch’s GHOST DOG: WAY OF THE SAMURAI, Quentin Tarentino’s martial arts epic KILL BILL as well as did additional music for two Jet Li films, UNLEASHED and WAR. It looks like The RZA will also be doing the score to the new film, pulling off a triple threat.
From the looks of it, Roth will be serving as a producer to the film. At this time, release dates and principal photography is unknown.
