Wesley Snipes appears to be making a comeback. After starring in a string of mediocre direct-to-video movies for the past five years and capping it off by getting busted by the Feds for tax evasion, he is reuniting with director Abel Ferrara to star in the action thriller GAME OF DEATH.
Despite its title, the film is unrelated to Bruce Lee’s GAME OF DEATH and puts Snipes into the role of a politician’s bodyguard who must fend off five of the world’s top assassins. It will be Snipes first film with Ferrara since appearing in KING OF NEW YORK in 1990.
Ferrara is known for directing hard-hitting and uncompromising genre action. Some of his most notable films include THE DRILLER KILLER (1979), MS. 45 (1981), KING OF NEW YORK, BAD LIEUTENANT (1992), and THE ADDICTION (1995).
Stunt actress Zoe Bell, a favorite of Quentin Tarantino and recent star of the internet original series ANGEL OF DEATH, co-stars along with Robert Davi.
The film begins production this week in Detroit.
Snipes is starring in three other upcoming films, crime drama BROOKLYN’S FINEST, the horror-western GALLOWWALKER and the crime actioner CHASING THE DRAGON.
