Although some mainstream entertainment news sources have yet to clue in, it was announced late last month that the Pang brothers upcoming STORM RIDERS 2 movie changed its English name to STORM WARRIORS due to copyright conflicts.
Mainland Chinese actress Tang Yan replaces Shu Qi as Muse in STORM WARRIORS.
Details are sketchy but according to a source at MSN Movies (backed up by other sources including Filmart), the name change was made to head off potential copyright disputes with the comic book’s current license holder who is no longer affiliated with the film’s financiers.
This issue doesn’t appear to be having any impact on the content of the film, which is still based on the “Storm Riders” comic series by Ma Wing-shing.
