UPDATE: Genius Products has issued a correction on the SRP of Dragon Dynasty’s release of SUPERCOP. The original press release stated $19.95. The updated suggested retail price is now $24.95.
The Weinstein Company and Genius Products have formally announced their January release of SUPERCOP (1992), the Hong Kong action movie classic featuring the unforgettable pairing of superstars Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh.
TWC’s Asian action label Dragon Dynasty has loaded this two-disc “Ultimate Edition” with exclusive interviews with Chan, Yeoh, director Stanley Tong, and even JC Stunt Team member Ken Lo. There is also the usual, fact-filled commentary from TWC’s Asian acquisitions chief Bey Logan.
The running time is 91 minutes, the same as the Weinstein’s previous Dimension Films release, suggesting that their version may be missing the same 10 minutes of non-action footage that appears in the Hong Kong print.
This new version comes with optional English 5.1 and DTS tracks. Unlike the Dimension version, it also includes the original mono Cantonese audio track.
SUPERCOP goes on sale January 19th with an SRP of $19.95 $24.95.
