Summit Entertainment, the producers of smash hit TWILIGHT: NEW MOON, have picked up CANCUN, an action film they plan to use as a starring vehicle for NEW MOON sensation Taylor Lautner. This follows recent news that Lautner has also been picked up by Paramount to star in MAX STEEL, an action filmed based on a popular toy line that the studio hopes to turn into a successful franchise.

CANCUN follows an out-of-place college kid who travels with a girl to Cancun on a break. While there, the girl and her friends are taken hostage by a drug cartel and he is forced to save them.
The film is being designed to allow Lautner to use his martial arts skills, some of which he recently showcased on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
Dan Lautner, Taylor’s father, is in discussions to produce the film.
