Teaser for Dante Lam’s ‘Fire of Conscience’

A teaser trailer for Dante Lam’s latest crime actioner is here and it looks hot. FIRE OF CONSCIENCE stars Leon Lai and Ritchie Ren in a hard-boiled story of an Internal Affairs cop who teams with a rogue narc to investigate the murder of a prostitute.

Lam has made some good films to date, including THE BEAST STALKER, but FIRE OF CONSCIENCE appears to raise the bar back to pre-1997 levels when Hong Kong action was king. For anyone not familiar with the likes of LONG ARM OF THE LAW and CITY ON FIRE, FIRE OF CONSCIENCE is what urban, crime action from Hong Kong should look like in 2010.

The investigation of a prostitute homicide brings headstrong, heavy-handed Detective Manfred in an unlikely collaboration with sly, man-of-the-world Inspector Kee from the Narcotics Bureau. When the DNA samples of one of Manfred’s fellow officers are found at the crime scene, implicating him as the prime suspect, Manfred must look beyond the obvious to get to the truth. Meanwhile, Kee’s uncanny eagerness to lend a helping hand every step of the way outside his own turf is beginning to smack of evil. In the line of fire between high levels of corruption and possible malice, Manfred must solve all the twists and turns of the mystery, trying to figure out who his enemy is and how to save his innocent partner from unfathomable disgrace. Unwittingly, he is about to open a Pandora’s Box that will threaten to upend the entire Hong Kong Police Force.

  • I love Leon Lai movies, especially his action movies. Bullets of Love, Empress and the Warriors, Infernal Affairs III, Heroic Duo, and now Bodyguards and Assassins...the dude kicks ass and looks good doing it.
