Filipino champion boxer Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao is making his action film debut as the leading man in Filipino superhero movie WAPAKMAN. Directed by Topel Lee, this action comedy with sci-fi elements has been likened to KUNG FU HUSTLE. It also co-stars WWE’s Dave Batista.

The 30-year-old Pacquiao, an actor, aspiring politician and boxing champ with seven world titles, last starred in ANAK NG KUMANDER (2008), a drama that flopped miserably at the local Filipino box office.

In the beginning of 2009 it was reported that Pacquiao met with Sylvester Stallone to discuss the possibility of doing a movie with the ROCKY star. Pacquiao’s manager Erik Pineda said that Pacquiao was up for a co-starring role in the film he described as being “something like RUSH HOUR.”

WAPAKMAN is set to premiere at the Metro Manila Film Festival on December 25.
