There are two new trailers out for Teddy Chan’s upcoming, all-star kung fu actioner BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS. The shorter trailer was cut for Taiwanese audiences and is all action. It reveals a few shots at least of previously unseen footage. The second trailer is over five minutes and highlights drama, action and behind-the-scenes footage.
A group of kung fu experts from different backgrounds come together in Hong Kong at the beginning of the 20th century to defend revolutionary Dr. Sun Yat-sen from an elaborate assassination attempt.
The film has a lot going for it. It stars a mix of talented martial arts and dramatic actors fronted by Donnie Yen. It features the most elaborate period set ever constructed for a Chinese-language film. There is also reportedly over an hour of pure action in this movie that was choreographed by Stephen Tung Wei with at least one fight sequence between Yen and Cung Le arranged by Yen.
BODYGUARDS AND ASSASSINS opens in China, Hong Kong and Singapore on December 18 and arrives a week later in Taiwan.
