One the few summer action movies that really has me genuinely pumped this year is HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY. It’s scoring well so far among critics and from everything shown thus far appears to add more of everything that made the previous film such a treat. One of the elements that has been ramped up is the live-action stunt work and fight choreography and for that director Guillermo del Toro wisely brought in Hong Kong-trained action director Brad Allan who can seen interviewed in the following video segment provided by Universal Studios.
A native of Australia, Allan was trained in wushu before joining Jackie Chan’s world famous stunt team where he eventually came to international attention by memorably fighting onscreen with Jackie in GORGEOUS (1999 – video). Some would say this was the last great Jackie Chan screen fight. Since then, Brad has made a successful transition to Hollywood as a stunt choreographer.
HELLBOY 2 opens in theaters across the country on July 11th.
