Epic martial arts film adaptation from a chapter in Luo Guanzhong’s historical novel “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” featuring Donnie Yen as star and action director. During the Warring States era in ancient China, General Cao Cao (Jiang Wen), in an effort to unify the country, seeks the aid of peerless warrior Guan Yu (Donnie Yen). However, Guan Yu is the friend of Cao Cao’s enemy Liu Bei (Alex Fong) so Cao Cao kidnaps Guan Yu’s lover Qi Lan (Betty Sun) to force the warrior to fight for him. Guan Yu leads the forces of Cao Cao to victory and is rewarded by having Qi Lan returned to him. The pair embarks on a journey to reunite with Liu Bei, but seeing the warrior as a potential threat, Cao Cao orders Guan Yu’s death. Guan Yu now must face all the forces at the emperor’s command. Written and directed by INTERNAL AFFAIRS writers Felix Chong and Alan Mak.

THE LOST BLADESMAN premiered in China on April 28, 2011. Icon Home Entertainment released the film in the U.K. on Blu-ray and DVD on August 8, 2011. The Weinstein Company has U.S. rights but has yet to announce a release date as of August 31, 2011.
