In early 20th century China, a constable’s (Takeshi Kaneshiro) investigation into the deaths of two bandits killed during a botched paper shop robbery reveal they were slain by the estranged son (Donnie Yen) of a triad boss (Wang Yu) hoping to put his criminal past behind him. Now with the constable hot on his trail, this former gangster finds himself, and those around him, the target of his former associates so he opts to fight back. Martial arts thriller from director Peter Chan (THE WARLORDS) was inspired by Chang Cheh’s classic wuxia film THE ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN. It features action choreography from star Donnie Yen and performances from veteran kung fu movie stars Kara Hui (MY YOUNG AUNTIE) and Jimmy Wang Yu (THE ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN). WU XIA was released in China on July 4th, 2011. The Weinstein Company will release the film in the U.S. later in the year under the title DRAGON.
