Tai Seng has announced their January line-up of DVDs and while they appear to be shrinking in number from past months there is still a gem to be had. Yuen Biao stars in the complete 37-episode TV series THE ULTIMATE CRIME FIGHTER (2007). It’s a modern-day supernatural crime series starring Yuen, Moses Chan and Gigi Lai.

Officier Fo (Yuen Biao) has cracked numerous difficult cases and has proved to be an asset within the police force. Despite the recognition he has achieved, Fo gave up his job to become a monk. But due to a series of mysterious and supernatural events, he finds himself back in Hong Kong to assist undercover police officer Lung (Moses Chan).

THE ULTIMATE CRIME FIGHTER is a five-disc set comprised of 37 episodes totaling 28 hours. The series is presented in the original fullscreen (1.33:1) presentation with Cantonese and Mandarin audio tracks and optional English or Chinese subtitles. SRP is $59.95.

Yuen Biao is one of Hong Kong’s great kung fu screen legends who began his career as one of Hong Kong’s top stunt doubles and later came to fame appearing onscreen alongside his former Chinese opera schoolmates Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung in films such as THE YOUNG MASTER (1980), THE PRODIGAL SON (1981) and WHEELS ON MEALS (1984). While he never became as well known internationally as Jackie or Sammo, he is still regarded by many as every bit their equal on screen.

Anyone who has been following Yuen’s career of late knows that he has been lighting China’s TV sets on fire since 1998 with one killer action series after another while showing us that he still has what it takes to deliver phenomenal martial arts fighting. Taie Seng previously released his series WING CHUN, where Yuen reprised his role from his hit kung fu movie THE PRODIGAL SON. This year, he appeared in the epic series LEGEND OF SHAOLIN KUNG FU.

Also coming from Tai Seng in January is the low-key family drama KUNG FU MASTER IS MY GRANDMA starring Isabel Chan and the comedy WE ARE FAMILY starring Alan Tam, Hacken Lee and Wu Jing.

Below is a preview of ULTIMATE CRIME FIGHTER featuring Yuen Biao in a fight sequence.
