California-based stunt crew, ZeroGravity, along with spinoff outfit Infinite Quest Productions, recently released their latest action short film online for all to see. It’s directed and starring Ken Quitugua and Sam Looc. Those familiar with the team already know of their impressive physical skills but may be surprised to see a big boost in production quality and visual style. Read on to learn more and watch the complete film.
AN ACT OF REVENGE is a gritty revenger shot Hong Kong style. It features Sam Looc as a triad member out to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of Ken Quitugua, who plays a crime boss. Fellow ZG members Tony Chu and Adam Phelps co-star.
Next to The Stunt People, ZeroGravity is one of North America’s leading independent martial arts and stunt teams working in or out of Hollywood. They started out as a group of college students experimenting with martial arts and stunt fighting techniques largely influenced by Hong Kong action cinema. Since 2000, the team has developed an online following for releasing a series of fun, no-budget short films primarily to showcase their physical and comedic talents.
More recently, some ZG members have been moving into mainstream filmmaking, most notably Lateef Crowder who scored a fighting roll in Tony Jaa’s THE PROTECTOR in 2005.
Ken Quitugua also recently starred in BOOKIE, Tran Quoc Bao’s excellent action noir short which is making the film festival rounds this year.
