THE HEAVEN SWORD AND DRAGON SABER (2009) A new 40-episode television adaptation of famed wuxia author Louis Cha’s “Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber” novel from producer Zhang Jizhong is in its sixth month of production and in that time lots of photos have appeared online (see bottom).

The mainland Chinese production, which is currently shooting in East China’s Zhejiang province is the seventh TV adaptation of Cha’s wuxia novel, the same work that inspired Wong Jing’s KUNG FU CULT MASTER (1993) starring Jet Li.

The series was adapted by writer Liu Yi and is being directed by Zhao Jian. It stars a large cast of mainland Chinese talents, mostly TV actors including Deng Chao, Ady An and Liu Jing.

Production on THE HEAVEN SWORD AND DRAGON SABER is expected to wrap in March.

Zhang Jizhong is a major force in the Chinese entertainment industry. In recent years he has gained fame in surrounding Asian territories for producing a number of upscale wuxia series based upon the works of Louis Cha such as RETURN OF THE CONDOR HEROES, THE SWORD STAINED WITH ROYAL BLOOD and ROYAL TRAMP. In addition to HEAVEN SWORD, he is also currently producing BING SHENG, a 40-episode historical war drama set during China’s Spring and Autumn Period.

I just wanted to say thank you for providing us with exciting news on Zhang Jizhong's latest TV serial, me being an avid fan of his past works (e.g. Three Kingdoms, Water Margin, Condor Heroes, Return of Condor Heroes). Online updates (Youtube videos, photos, reports) on Zhang's Bing Sheng (Sun Tzu) TV drama and planned movie trilogy Journey to the West are so sparse, in the English medium....arghhh!

So, quality websites such as yours, are real gems and deeply appreciated :)
